Wellbeing
Well-being is an important part of life in St Peter’s and we have a group of ‘Wellbeing Champions’ from across school, they work with Mrs Anderson to ensure everyone has a clear understanding of well- being and mental health. Mrs Anderson also leads ELSA sessions in school.
We are close to North Bay Beach; all of our classes take part in beach schools and make use of our amazing natural resource. We have a beach schools lead teacher who takes ownership of this area of the curriculum. Our children are passionate about caring for the environment and have elected Eco School Leaders who champion the cause of our environment.
Cultural Capital
To develop cultural capital we work alongside the amazing Steven Joseph Theatre to ensure that the arts are brought to life. We take part in regular workshops that are led by the SJT Team and our pupils visit the SJT to watch a show and take part in behind the scenes tours. A recent example of our partnership involved our Year 6 class completing a Shakespeare workshop that focused upon Macbeth and was shared on the Theatre’s website.

Intent
At St Peter’s School we want pupils to know more, remember more and do more! We follow the National Curriculum as our framework and have worked together to make sure that our curriculum centres heavily around our locality, we love learning outside of the classroom and providing tangible experiences for pupils. We want all of our pupils to follow our Catholic Values and experience a genuine faith encounter. We want pupils to become advocates for social justice and the environment. |

Our teachers have all thought very carefully about the schema they teach, they are aware of the elements of the curriculum that are knowledge based and skills based. We ensure that our children have the opportunity to build upon their knowledge and put it to good use. The design of our curriculum ensures that pupils are regularly challenged and that their learning continually moves forward. We know that every pupil will be able to experience an area of the curriculum in which they excel, we want them to have confidence to go forward in life to achieve all that they can!
Implementation
Staff are well trained and well supported in implementing our curriculum. We are outward facing and seek support from national hubs such as the Literacy Hub, Maths Hub and Computing Hub to ensure that our curriculum is quality assured. This expert help allows us to powerfully address social disadvantages that are prevalent on the coast through the teaching and learning of our curriculum.

Impact
The impact of our curriculum is apparent for all of our pupils. They leave St Peter’s School well equipped for their transition to secondary school. Pupils have a real knowledge of the world around them and are kind and caring members of society, they are well equipped to meet the modern world. Pupils experience a real faith encounter and are passionate about caring for our environment. As a result of our well-planned curriculum pupils know more and will remember more, they will have built transferable knowledge of events, places, concepts and procedures.
